Hello! If you are reading this article, you are probably of student age. I have also stepped out of the university gate for 6 or 7 years. In this article, I will share the thoughts of an older brother with you about studying at university!

When you ask questions and seek information like that, you are already better than you were before. I graduated from high school in 2009, at that time I almost defaulted to the adult view that after finishing high school, I had to go to college and I had to go into a field that had high demand and was easy to get a job.

What's the point of failing college?

I'm not one of those people who likes to study and studies hard. Every year in elementary and middle school, I participated in excellent student exams at the school, district, and provincial levels, but I also had to be in the top of the best students because I was really lazy to study and loved to play.

In middle school, mainly because my parents were both teachers, I was forced to study, but many times I ran away to play video games and was discovered and beaten. In grade 9, I studied in two district teams for the provincial exam: Math and Physics. But I like Physics more because I learn many practical things, so in high school I studied in the Physics class of Hung Yen High School for the Gifted. Because my house is in the district, when I go to Hung Yen City to study, I stay in a boarding house and leave my family's arms.

I don't know how it is for everyone to be away from home, but for me it's very enjoyable, being able to do what I like and play freely. And of course, because I like to play, my academic results dropped because I played a lot of video games.

In 12th grade, I studied a little more, but the knowledge from the previous 2 years was still quite lacking. Although grade 12 plays less video games, I still go to the cafe a lot because I like to learn how to make websites.

Actually, at that time, my school had a forum for students created by former students. My class went there to chat a lot, but because I wrote too many posts, the admins blocked my account because I thought it was spam. If that's the case, then I'll find a way to make a website for you guys to talk about yourself. After that, I created the website chuyenly.net and a music listening website called vimotnguoi.us. Creating a website yourself was quite time-consuming because at that time there were not as many online documents and courses as there are now, and students at that time were also poor, not "rich" like now.

At that time, I also knew about my best friend's learning ability and realized that I liked engineering, so I planned to take the entrance exam to the Department of Electronic Engineering Technology at Hanoi University of Industry with about 20 points or so. But then everyone in the family forced him to take the exam into the Banking and Finance industry, which was hot at that time. That year, the Banking and Auditing categories were at their highest and I failed!

Honestly, I wasn't too sad at that time because I knew my ability to study and it was all because I refused to study. But everyone around me was sad, my mother was crying, making me feel like the world around me was collapsing and my future was black. At that time, I also had a part in my mind that blamed my parents because if they had let me take the exam for the major I chose, I would have passed and studied the major I wanted.

Finally, my second wish is to go to the University of Labor and Social Affairs and study Human Resource Management. At that time, I thought that it was okay because in the future, many companies would need management majors and after graduating, I would be able to get a job.

And since graduating, I have never worked a single day in Human Resources Management...now I still live well, pursuing what I like, and those internet cafes in high school were also the foundation for what I do. Later on digital marketing.

So, if you are sad that you failed the university entrance exam and feel depressed, even want to end your life, think again. When one door closes, another door opens. College is not the final door!

Many people I know didn't go to college, or didn't go to prestigious schools, but in real life they are very successful and know how to balance their lives.

After a long time of struggling in life from working for a company, starting up selling shoes, and then working freelance like now, one thing I've come to understand is that every event that happens, the people we meet always have a different personality. thoughts come to us. Whether it is positive or negative, lucky or unlucky, we cannot know in advance.

Many things that happened at that time I thought were unlucky, but when I look back, they were lucky. What's important is how you deal with them.

If I hadn't been lazy to study in the past, maybe I would have passed the exam at banking schools and witnessed the collapse of financial institutions during the economic crisis. Now the banking industry no longer has "swordfish" like before. And maybe I'm in jail because of risks related to the banking industry like so many recent cases.

It was also because of that time that I learned about websites that I learned about Digital Marketing and was able to do what I like now. And I just have this blog to share with you.

So, if you failed college and are bored, rest assured. Everything will definitely be okay. If you don't go to college, you can learn a trade or learn more skills (now learning more skills is very easy).

What do you do if you don't go to college?

You can learn electronics, refrigeration, hairdressing, chef, tailoring, car repair, and phone repair. If you want to work in IT, there are still non-university programs for you to study such as Aptech, FPT Skill,...

If you already know what you like, that's great. Take this opportunity to pursue it. Are you thinking that your future is dark anyway? Consider it number 0 to start a new beginning. No matter what, failure is the same as now, right?

If you don't know what you like yet, that's okay. Actually, until I finished college, I kept thinking about it and didn't know what I liked? Try listing out the things you want to do and start doing them. Only when you do it will you know if it is your passion? Before, I thought I liked doing design, Photoshop, Producer, but when I started doing it, that wasn't the case and I tried doing other things!

Being able to fail, stand up and try again is the privilege of youth

Because you don't go to college, try harder than others. Just think like that.

If you are in the stage of wondering when taking the university entrance exam, don't understand whether you should take the university entrance exam or not? Then just try to study and get into a school that you want.

Although studying at university is not everything, it will have many benefits for you. For my best friend, it is:

  • Expand your knowledge and learn how to approach problems. Although university knowledge sometimes does not directly affect your future income, it will help you practice how to absorb knowledge and solve problems.
  • Learn more soft skills. University will help you improve soft skills such as presentations, teamwork,...
  • Independent living. If you are a small-town student like me, going to university will be an opportunity for you to leave your family's arms and practice independence, cook your own food, live on your own, manage your own expenses, etc.
  • Expand relationship. Studying at university, you can meet new friends from all different provinces and regions, different economic conditions, different personalities,...
  • Student time is a beautiful and memorable memory. Even though I didn't study much during my student days, I didn't often participate in volunteer organizations because I was introverted and found it inappropriate. But my student days are still very memorable memories for me: From the funny and sad stories when we lived together, to the joys and sorrows, the joys and sorrows of going through difficulties together, to the teammates behind the scenes. support when you go out to flirt with girls, and the times you get drunk,... the times you go out drinking with friends because they are heartbroken and need a place to vent,...

I will not advise you that students must study hard, diligently participate in clubs and organizations to have a beautiful CV in the future... because I myself do not regret the days when students did not work hard. that's mine. Because it gives me skills and experiences other than school knowledge that I think you should also experience instead of just focusing on studying and then graduating without life knowledge.

The important thing is that when you step out into life, you confront life's problems and learn more for yourself!

Should I go to college?

That doesn't mean I advise you to have fun, go to the docks, bars, and dance all night long. Know when to stop and balance your life. Each person is a unique individual and will have their own way of looking at life.

Those are my shares about university studies. I'm not necessarily a successful person but I'm satisfied with what I chose. To try and proactively do what I like every day, to share what I know with everyone. That is the life I want and choose.

Please do the same. Choose what you want to do and pursue it!
